Nov. 24th, 2008 09:21 pmListening to Obama's press conference today introducing his economic team, and hearing the broad outlines of the economic stimulus package they are considering was such a relief. I know the economy is in very deep trouble, this won't be easy to fix, nod, nod, but he is so organized, thoughtful and reasonable that it is hard to stay really afraid.
Hillary as Secretary of State? I do respect her abilities, but the campaign really made me question her ability to lead, and whether she can stifle her own political interests. And there's the Big Dog problem - I just can't imagine Bill buttoning himself up and staying out of the way. Thomas Friendman has a good column on the relationship between the President and the Secretary of State...

I have no doubt that Obama will give her that kind of backup, but will she and Bill be representatives or play heads of state? Can they think about anything other than the 2012 and 2016 campaigns?
