You know how when you are in a fight, and things are getting nasty, you are supposed to walk away? I just came across this bit of information about what happened when Edmund Wilson walked away from his wife Mary McCarthy and closed himself into his study: "she'd light piles of paper on fire and shove them under the door." That's completely nuts, of course, but I am still kind of awed by it.

So did you see Brokeback Mountain? Seems like it is doomed to be "The Gay Cowboy Movie" rather than a movie in its own right.

Sounds like a good way of getting him back into the arguement to me, nothing more irritating than someone walking away when you are in a full-on self righteous rant!!
I once threw a glass of red wine at mr ffiondove, it landed just above his shoulder and ran down the wall........he said "Sandra that was a good Shiraz" I've also thrown a statue of Romeo & Juliet at him and a large ceramic basket (his mother gave us that)....I think I'm more of a thrower than a firestarter...

Shiraz is a lovely full bodied red wine. I must say I miss the statue and the basket, I used to have it as a centrepiece on my dining room table.

I know they are Famous Literary People, because they are always being mentioned in the Book Review, but can't tell you more than that.
