Feeling better. I heart my flist.

I found out we have an old version of a PhotoDeluxe!! I've been admiring icons and made one to ask for them.......



This is Lychnocanoma, one of the thousands of protozoan genera with complex and beautiful shells. This one cell - about a fifth of a millimeter - does everything animals require multiple cells to do. (More at http://www.radiolaria.org).

Wandering around to see what else I could tell you about them got me to scans of the classic naturalist texts. These are full of illustrations I have always coveted, e.g.,

Ooh see if you can find a picture of toxomplasma gondii - messed up my blood nicely for a couple of years, and I'd like to see what the little fucker actually looks like!
