momsalive1I found a book with art I really like in it: "The Symbolists". Here is some work by Jan Toorop (1858-1928), a Dutch artist (http://www.jan-toorop.com). According to my book, he was born in Java, and his characters resemble "the intricate silhouetted puppets with long thin arms that are typical of the Javanese shadow theater".
