First - lanyn - why is this funny?? You may be facing fires and falling shingles, but I had a real problem here!! I had to do controlled fantasy studies. I had to look at lots of photos. I had to compare and contrast and write essays, or at least outline them. I had to consider the impact on mrs_sean_bean: if she takes on my piece of Mr. 00OMFG then will she overdose? Serious business!
Second - I am pleased to introduce you two! I think you share interests in sweaty fighting men, writing, and dodging fires.
I'm currently in Washington, watching my state burn. The closest fire is about 10 miles away from the house, and my hubby is poking that I worry too much. *sighs*
Thanks for the tankers! They should be much more useful today, as the winds are supposed to die down.
Pleased to meet you too! Anyone who not only recognizes Vic Morrow but knows who he is is all right in my book! (Not to mention the shared love of Sean and Daniel...) :-D
Ack! It's burning up in Washington too? We're about the same distance from fires, you and I. I'm right below one of the San Bernardino fires down here in California. Our winds are dying down too, so here's hoping all the fires get knocked under control and soundly defeated. Fast.
Clarification.. :) We have a small place in Washington State, I'm just up here for a little R&R. My hubby is still at home in California... Murrieta to be exact, and the Fallbrook fire has spread, making it's way toward the DeLuz area of Temecula. We're only about 10 miles away. I feel pretty secure, but we've got friends there who have had to evacuate, let their horses run free, because they weren't able to get enough trailers to their ranch to evacuate them all. Very sad!!!
My daughter is in Redlands...she says the sky is just black. I imagine you're getting the same thing.
I adore Vic Morrow. In fact, I manage to slip him into an RPG I was playing, as a temporary character, and I fell in love with him all over again. Did you know that Combat is available on Netflix? Both hubby and I were jazzed. :D
Ah!!! Fellow Californian and very nearby too! I'm just a few miles from Redlands in N. San Bernardino right next to the currently closed Hwy 30, so very near your daughter. Yes, the sky is pretty darned black, the sun bright orange.
I started on Netflix, then rapidly had to own all the Combat eps on DVD, as well as several other Vic movies. Combat is an awesome show. Could watch Vic all day. Could listen to him all day too. (I'm big on voices) :-D
Big on voices? I would never have guessed...*coughs*...Sean...THE VOICE. *grins*
When things have settled and the state is no longer on fire, we'll have to get together for lunch. Such a small world. ;)
By the way, I was just looking at your website. Do you by any chance know Linda Knights, aka sindahise? She used to write Combat and Rat Patrol fic YEARS ago, and published a very successful Fanzine.
I'd love to meet for lunch sometime! That'd be great! I was really hoping to get to meet momsalive1 earlier this year, but my trip to NY was unfortunately in a totally different area from where she lives. Grrrrr.
The name Linda Knights is familiar! I think it was the "G-2 files" zine for WWII shows she did, if I recall? I tried to find copies of those zines once, but alas, never could turn them up. I don't know her, but I know of her. I write C! fiction too, though not as much as I'd like, and maintain a fan site for Combat. Which you probably found if you were on my website, LOL!
There were terrible fires near the house in Italy this year, the nearest one to our house was only about half a mile away, every time we went out for a few hours when we arrived back there had been another fire on the mountainside, it was horrible and caused a lot of damage but no damage to any properties, which is odd but not surprising in that area whre the local mafia are very active.
This is funny because I am going through something similar with my loves and was being teased mercilessly about my apparently fickle ways by two friends. I've been doing the photo comparisons, but I haven't delved into the controlled fantasy study, which should be the next step, I believe. Any suggestions for remaining objective?
And thanks for the tanker planes and hugs! Need both!
Hmmm...when you are wine tasting, isn't there some rule that you don't swallow between tastes? That might help. Also, there's no substitute for replication in a study like this. The magic number is three trials per treatment, of course, but you might want to double that just to be sure (ask your doctor first).
If there are more than two that makes the design more complicated. I'd think you'd need a play off procedure with head to head match ups.
Finally, you'd want to replicate everything in at least two conditions - like artificial turf vs. grass in football. Maybe anonymous encounters at a writer's conference versus slow seductions in fencing lessons? Just a thought.
See above - this concerns me. Is it safe for you to take on any more? Will you short circuit? Do you have any sense of moderation in this matter? Please take small bites and chew slowly.
And, it is only by the smallest margin that he won....I could be back.
I am touched that you took my welfare into consideration when making your own decisions. But hey, I reckon I am woman enough to take care of Mr 00OMFG (as I will affectionately know him from now on). I love you so much!!
Have run out of Daniel ones for the time being *is sad*. But "forced" myself to watch another 2 new Sean films last week - reviews will appear in due course. And I managed a Clive Owen and an Antonio Banderas too. (I just liek to keep my other boys on their toes too y'know).
Yup - not really a rational decision, although I tried to pretend it was to lanyn so I could have some dignity. But actually, there was a photo of him on men_daily from National Treasure and it just spoke to me...."Enough of these other blokes. Take a good look and tell me you'd actually pick any one of them over me."
It must be horrible to watch - I know they can shift pretty fast, but its pretty much a slow motion disaster, right? So your hubby and daughter will have time to move if it comes to that.
"..extremely attracted..."
Extremely. I don't know if I could survive an analysis....
